Last year it was our first time to travel with a roofbox. The combination of this type and a very well designed top carrier still make it a comfortable drive. Fuel consumption is something which must not be spoken off ;-). It fits five bags of 75L easliy so the boot stays more empty.
The setup looks quite nice though.

‘As always’ we depart in the evening, this time around 21:00 after a decent meal and a hot shower. Kids in the back in their pyjamas, telling us that they aren’t tired yet. But after 15 mins on the highway they are out. I started the drive with the first 500kms. After a short stop and some coffee for Nikki we switched seats and I dozed off quite fast. We arrived around 10:30 at the Easyhotel in Nice.
Because a shift in my work we were able to start our holiday sooner. We looked for a budget-friendly hotel and I must admit, it exceeded our expectations by far. It was a nice bonus that we could park under the hotel, with 5cm to spare above the roofbox.
Nice itself was a blast. Beautiful architecture, a culinary surprise alley after alley, great pebble beach (yep, sand still annoys me) all around great.
