The Old Man (Bodach an Stòr in Gaelic), is a 55-metre-high pinnacle of basalt rock which is all that remains of a 2,800-million-year-old volcanic plug. It’s quite a serious hike, certainly all the way to the official viewpoint. When we arrived at the top we noticed there was a longer hike running parallel to Rona Island. Maybe something for a future visit.
The kids did really great!

When walking up we followed the path to the viewpoint. But on the way back we went off track towards the Man of Storr. We found a really nice quiet spot with a beautiful lookout. There I could finally take out the small hidden package underneath the portrait lense. Down on one knee I went…

She said Yes! (2nd time, don’t get your knickers in a twist ;))
To celebrate this day we had dinner at Dulse & Brose in Portree. A really nice restaurant we discovered the last time we went to Scotland.
